Reel Visibility, Real Opportunity: How BEFH Leveraged an NIL Collaboration to Promote Local Businesses

At Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills (BEFH), we believe collaboration should do more than create content. It should create opportunity.

A recent partnership between BEFH member Pink Pixie Marketing and BEFH member Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. is a strong example of what that can look like. Through a strategic Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collaboration featuring Daisy Monie, former Kansas State track star and former BEFH intern, BEFH helped create a campaign that highlighted not one, but two local businesses while celebrating a familiar face rooted in the community.

While the final product was a polished social media reel, the collaboration represented something bigger: a thoughtful opportunity to connect local business, creative talent, and community visibility.

A Strategic Local Collaboration

NIL deals are often viewed as simple sponsorships, but BEFH saw the chance to make this one more meaningful.

By bringing together Daisy, Brown’s Shoe Fit Co., and Pink Pixie Marketing, the campaign became a locally rooted example of how intentional partnerships can benefit multiple businesses at once.

Daisy’s athletic background made her a natural fit to promote performance and recovery footwear, including her featured picks: Hoka Bondi 9s and Arizona Birkenstocks. Her connection to both the community and BEFH added authenticity that made the campaign feel especially aligned.

Highlighting Local Talent and Black-Owned Business

BEFH member Pink Pixie Marketing played a key role in bringing the collaboration to life through content creation, campaign execution, and creative storytelling.

That matters because this partnership was not just about promoting a product. It was also about making sure a Black-owned BEFH member business was part of the opportunity, the visibility, and the creative process.

Through one campaign, BEFH helped elevate a local retailer, spotlight a talented student-athlete, and create meaningful exposure for a Black-owned business.

A Reflection of BEFH’s Mission

This collaboration reflects what BEFH is all about: building bridges, creating access, and helping entrepreneurs grow through meaningful connection.

By leveraging an NIL opportunity to promote both Brown’s Shoe Fit Co. and Pink Pixie Marketing, BEFH helped create more than a marketing moment. It created a model for how collaboration can be used as a tool for local economic empowerment.

When partnerships are built with intention, the impact goes beyond content. It creates visibility, strengthens relationships, and opens the door for more opportunities to follow.

That is exactly the kind of work BEFH is proud to champion.
